Later on Thursday (plus i added more to the earlier one)
So the film festival was interesting. We met at the station the newspaper ad said was closest, which was the farthest stop south on the yellow line. Thank goodness Mass came, because as soon as we exited the Metro we knew we weren’t on the nice side of town anymore. So Mass, Ben, Eric, Steve, and I (everyone else wanted to take a siesta instead) ventured out into the rain to ask someone for directions. They said it was at least 2 miles away, and we had to go under a bridge with homeless people and then up the stairs to cross the bridge then back down to keep walking. Then all of a sudden we were in a beautiful park and nice area. Then it was shady again. And there really weren’t cross walks with the roundabouts so we had to run at our own risk and then jump over the railings. What a crazy adventure! But by this point we weren’t about to give up, and we finally arrived at a store called Centro de Los Angeles (now thinking about it, anything with L.A. in the name is probably pretty ghetto), but it looked super sketchy and turned out to be a supermarket with the same name as the place we were looking for. So we continued on our way, through the market, where they had never seen tourists before, and we finally made it to a huge shopping complex, Centro de Los Angeles. It was a huge mall with a theater inside, so we made our way to the Argentinean movie, titled “Peligrosa Obsesión” for FREE! But we entered into a completely dark theater, scrambling to find seats. I have never been in such a dark place! We entered on a scene of a car chase, but this was a truck chase. Long story short, the movie was 2 ½ hours long. It was a mix of The Godfather, Batman and Robin, and the Matrix. Steve and I just laughed and laughed because it was so outrageous, with a kick resulting in 2 back flips and ridiculous music at every scene change. And lots of audience talking and yelling out. Mass thought it was horrible, but so horrible it was funny. Maybe Steve and I liked it better because we couldn’t understand the awful dialogue. But oh what an experience!
